How to read this table: every cell comes from a Frontier-owned page and is linked. Sizes are shown in inches (as Frontier publishes them) and in centimetres, converted at 1 in = 2.54 cm and rounded to 1 decimal. Not yet verified means Frontier itself does not publish a fixed number for that cell — its own page points you to the Bag Price Checker instead. Nothing here is filled in from a third-party site.
Frontier's bag page lists these six purchase windows. It states that airport prices are higher and that buying at booking gets “the best price”, but it does not publish the number for any window — only the Bag Price Checker does. So the price cells stay unverified rather than guessed.

What is the difference between a Frontier personal item and a carry-on bag?
A personal item is one bag that is included with every fare and must be no larger than 8″D × 18″W × 14″H (20.3 × 45.7 × 35.6 cm) and up to 35 lb. A carry-on bag is a separate purchase, must be no larger than 10″D × 16″W × 24″H (25.4 × 40.6 × 61.0 cm) and up to 35 lb, and must fit in the overhead bin. So the frontier personal item size is the smaller of the two, and the frontier carry-on bag size is the larger one.
Is the Frontier personal item size checked at the gate?
Yes. Frontier states the size of your included personal item is checked during boarding, and that items larger than the allowed dimensions are subject to an additional charge. The same wording applies to the carry-on bag.
How much does a Frontier carry-on cost?
Not yet verified. Frontier does not publish a fixed carry-on price on any of its own pages; its Optional Services page says “For price, see Bag Price Checker below (Non-Refundable)”, and its baggage page says bag prices “vary depending on your travel dates and when you purchase them”. Frontier does state that buying during booking gets the best price and that airport prices are higher, and that an agent-assisted transaction carries a service charge of up to $25 per person per direction.
What happens if my Frontier carry-on is bigger than the allowed size?
Frontier's own wording: items larger than the allowed dimensions are “subject to an additional charge”, and the size is checked during boarding. Separately, if your bag fits the bin but bin space is unavailable, Frontier states it “may be gate checked at no additional cost”.
When should I buy my Frontier bags to pay the least?
Frontier's own advice is to buy during booking (“Add when you book for the best price!”) or any time before the flight, and it warns that airport prices are higher. Frontier lists six purchase windows — during booking, before check-in, at check-in, airport kiosk or counter, airport boarding gate, and customer support agent — but publishes no figure for any of them. Checked bags must be purchased at least 60 minutes before the flight.
What are the Frontier baggage fees for oversize and overweight bags?
For a checked bag between 63 and 110 linear inches: $75 per bag, per direction, non-refundable. For weight: 41–50 lb is $75 per bag, per direction; 51–99.99 lb is $100 per bag, per direction for bookings made before April 4, 2026 and $129 for bookings made on or after that date. Over 110 linear inches or over 100 lb is not accepted. The base frontier baggage fees for a carry-on and a checked bag are not published as fixed numbers.
How many bags can I bring on Frontier?
Frontier's page states 1 personal item per passenger, per direction, included with the fare. Carry-on and checked bags are purchased individually or as part of a bundle. Frontier's Business bundle includes 2 checked bags of up to 50 pounds each, and its elite tiers and the active-duty military allowance add further bags at no charge — the exact per-tier list is in the table above.
Does Frontier gate-check bags for free?
Only in one official case: Frontier states that a carry-on which must fit in the overhead bin “may be gate checked at no additional cost” if bin space is unavailable. A bag that is larger than the allowed dimensions is a different case — Frontier says it is subject to an additional charge.
Every figure above was read from a Frontier-owned page on 2026-10-11. Only Frontier's own pages count as a source; forums, comparison sites, other baggage sites and social posts were not used.
Method notes: centimetre figures are converted from Frontier's inch figures at 1 in = 2.54 cm and rounded to 1 decimal — they are computed, not printed by Frontier. The 35 lb figure is converted to 15.9 kg the same way; the 40 lb / 18.1 kg pair is Frontier's own. Cells marked Not yet verified are cells where Frontier publishes no fixed number; they are left unverified rather than filled with a third-party estimate. This page is not affiliated with Frontier Airlines.
